As a retired 18-year combat-wounded veteran of the United States Marine Corps, patriotism and service are not just part of my experience, they are a part of my heritage.
I am the grandson of a West Point Officer and WWII veteran, the grandson of a Jewish Army Air Corps Pilot and WWII veteran, the son of an Army Nurse Major, and cousin to an Army Major, Army Sergeant First Class, and Army Captain, with other family currently serving in the Israeli Defense Forces.
I believe that true patriotism requires understanding that most Americans agree on a majority of the issues - not seeking to divide and conquer them for personal or political gain.
It’s time to stop letting important issues sit on the backburner while we bicker about Team Red and Team Blue. We have too much work to do and need representatives that will work across the aisle to find real, practical solutions to our challenges.
