In the face of a changing climate and its undeniable impact on our planet, family farmers, ranchers, and many hardworking Coloradans stand at a crossroads. From water scarcity, to preserving our farmland and soil health for the next generation, and even the rights of farmers to repair their own equipment, there are many challenges we face.
But Colorado also has the opportunity to lead the way in transforming agriculture for the future.
My platform is dedicated to standing with family farmers and ranchers to bring changes to our system that not only contribute to the state's economy and global food security but also can help address the urgent environmental challenges we face.

Agriculture is a vital economic driver for the communities of eastern Colorado. Farmers and ranchers need the support of a well-informed public as they continue to provide food for a global population which is expected to increase to nearly 10 billion by 2050. At the same time, farmers and ranchers in eastern Colorado battle infringements on water rights, and struggle to implement suggested soil health practices because of Colorado’s arid environment.

I support advancing these bills to support our farmers and ranchers:

Federal Right to Repair Bill

Allows Farmers and Ranchers to repair their equipment without voiding coverage and allows farmers to have their equipment repaired by non corporate facilities. This creates a competitive market where Big Agribusiness cannot gouge farmers and Ranchers with inflated equipment repair costs.

Federal Fertilizer and Equipment Subsidies Assistance Program

Direct additional funding for the development of American produced sustainable fertilizers and equipment.

Family Farm and Rancher’s Legacy Protection Act

Protecting Mom and Pop’s from losing their family farm or ranch and supporting the next generation of farmers.

We also must:

Decrease the influence of corporations and their ability to dictate prices to farmers and control of availability to consumers as is evidenced in the monopolized US beef market.
Support a comprehensive immigration policy that ensures an adequate supply of labor for agricultural and industrial operations.
Stabilize agricultural markets by establishing price point minimums across the board, implementing a windfall profits tax, and increasing competition.
Legislate that all future trade compacts and tariff propositions include an analysis on what impacts the compact will have on the US agriculture sector.

Ike McCorkle is a retired Marine Corps Officer who knows that food safety is part of national security. Ike will fight for Colorado family farmers and farm workers, and against big agribusiness monopolies. Colorado deserves better, and Ike McCorkle is answering that call to service.
